Scope
This contract involved the installation of a first time sewer and treatment system, serving 25 residences, in the village of Nupend.

The works included a 1.6km pipeline running the full length of the village onto which the 25 properties were connected. The pipeline construction was achieved utilising a combination of no dig (directional drilling) in areas of single carriageway, and conventional open cut where appropriate.

The treatment area consisted of a reed bed with new pumping station, motor control centre and control system. During construction of the reed bed consideration had to be given to a number of sensitive environmental issues including badgers, newts, local water courses and flora & fauna.

Throughout the construction phase, recognising the narrow lanes of Nupend, detailed logistical planning was necessary to ensure that vehicle access was maintained to the local properties, businesses and farms with minimum disruption.
