Objective
Central Networks instructed W.S.Atkins to provide additional transformer capacity at the Droitwich site.

We were subcontractors to Atkins to provide all the the necessary civil engineering and access works. This is a live substation and our staff needed to be fully trained to the necessary standards.

What did the project involve?
Drill existing concrete floor and then hand excavate cable pits.
Construct a new transformer base.
Install earth tape to base number 8.
Erect a temporary palisade fence to enable the construction of the new transformer base.
Construct mast base.
Excavate cable trench and install trefoil ducts.
Construct a new control room base.
Construct new control room and retaining wall.
Excavate trenches and lay 150mm / 100mm ducts and then backfill / reinstate.
